The Story
The United Kingdom is one of the most highly sought destinations for international students, according to Higher Education Statistics Agency statistics for 2018/2019, the number of foreign students studying across the UK is 485,6455 (Study in UK, 2020). A British Council’s research showed that the UK is an attractive destination for young people because of the varieties of cultural and historic attractions, countryside and landscape, people, cities, arts, and a reputation for being safe and secure (British Council, 2014). Understanding that students attending universities in a world other than their own have to deal with new social and educational structures, attitudes and standards, as well as with the problems of adaptation common to students in general and with disruption caused by Covid-19, I was inspired to embark on this project to document the experience of students studying during this difficult time. The project, titled “Studying during a Pandemic” is a project that explores the experience of international students who migrated to the United Kingdom for studies and how they are coping with new experiences in the UK, especially with series of lockdowns and restrictions caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
